That's it. Today was the day the world saw images (large and 3d) of the highly anticipated return of James Cameron to perform a fiction feature films. "Avatar" is labeled innovative, amazing, fantastic, exciting and many other adjectives that leave fans salivating (or eyes?). Yesterday, we had already had access to the trailer . And what we saw today in theaters around the world is difficult to categorize. There is a trailer, are not sequences (sequences are excerpts or scenes) and does not reveal almost nothing of the story (which we still did not know). So why bring millions to the cinema to see something that they do not know quite what it is?

Because what we were shown, whatever it is, is excellent and left me full of desire to see the rest. Well, this will not come only from what I saw, but know that Cameron is not a director will be free, that fills the eye of the viewer with special effects without a story that needs them to survive, or that the power of images dispense a argument that gives them more strength. Cameron introduces us to the movie (telegraphically) saying that the images we see are from the first half of the film, not to run the risk of revealing to the viewer something that spoil the experience of seeing the whole movie. And this is true.

We know that "Avatar" focuses on the character of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paraplegic war veteran who is sent to the planet Pandora, where you fought a war with the natives, the Na'vi humanoid race with their own language and culture. Jake is transformed (that part is unclear) in your avatar (basically becomes a Na'vi) and sent to Pandora. As you know the environment and the natives around him, will be identifying with them and call into question their loyalty to humans. It should be something like this and the storyline seems to be more than a "Dances With Wolves" futuristic. But it is.

We saw the result of the arrival of Jake the military unit that receives and processes it in your Avatar. We see his reaction after the conversion and his escape. After that, we are already on Pandora. And Pandora is a wonder! A flora and fauna peculiar, beautifully designed and well executed, and an amazingly realistic and fantastic people. And here it must be said: This is a movie to see in the movies. Apart from the 3d (we already there), here the screen size matters. The Na'vi we saw in the trailer and that can provide the photo, are not unrealistic, like nothing more than cartoons. In the film the conversation is another. Proximity is important, and all details are enhanced, providing a realistic absolutely amazing characters (here, the timing for the launch of the trailer on the Internet was perfect).

The rest of the sequences are presented to us in Pandora, with the adaptation of Avatar jake the natives, the very particular nature of the planet, and especially for its fauna. The creatures that share this habitat with the Na'vi are frightening and dangerous, and action sequences provide a detail, a speed and an impressive pageantry. In the end, a loose assembly of images, mostly taken from the trailer, but once again, in a spectacular big-screen take on overwhelming.

As for the technology that took 10 years to reach the point that allowed Cameron to film this story, it gave her. Or rather, it is there, everything is frighteningly real, in stunning detail. But where the most noticeable improvement is in the avatars: At some point, when Jake is surrounded by Na'vi Pandora is a we perceive to be an Avatar. Completely blue and strange, somewhere there has traces of Sigourney Weaver. Frighteningly real. And the 3d. Well, since here had spoken of the 3d, and it said, this is one of the movies in the format that can be really important. It is. We go to Pandora with Jake. I was there. Had the film moisture and odor and would there not be any doubt in me. We can almost feel the atmosphere, the particles that go in the air, the creatures, the size and depth of the landscape of the planet. In action scenes, even there we are placed in the middle. And as for me, that is what serves the 3d. Not one to pounce on other forms, but to add depth and atmosphere.

I have no doubt. Cameron is still in great shape. Only one thing missing check: The story and its emotions. If you can follow what has been achieved at visual (Cameron and usually gets it), it is one of the most important films of all time. If not ... well. December 17th I'll be there to confirm it.

One might almost say that we can see a new form of fiction. And the recent pictures that confirmed. I'm waiting to see something else for me to satisfy curiosity.
Also I hope to go see.
Hugs.
